Prayer of St Augustine
Lord, for tomorrow and its needs, I do not pray; Keep me, my God, from stain of sin just for today. Let me both diligently work, and duly pray. Let me be kind in word and deed, just for today. Let me be slow to do my will, prompt to obey; help me to sacrifice myself just for today. And if today my tide of life should ebb away, give me thy sacraments divine, sweet Lord today. So for tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord, just for today.

reading the prayers really touched my heart and filled my soul with spirit. it made me realise just how much i've drifted. it gave me new hope. i need to get things going again!

i had such a great afternoon with daryl. a simple lunch and taking the train together. i can't fully express the joy i feel just to be able to be with you.

wow. i just suddenly had a most wonderful feeling coming over me. really, happiness does burst from within you at the most unexpected of moments.

it's been a busy day. exercised in the morning, planned for tomorrow's MM meeting, compiled a contact list (this is more tedious than one would think), and filed up my notes.. the mess which i've been left with after the first term in sem 1 really exemplifies the second law of thermodynamics.

i'm ready to do my social work readings before heading to church for mass (hopefully!) and bible study after that.

Our spiritual lives, to state the obvious, are our lives - with all the attendant grief that come with them. In order to construct our lives well, we must not fool ourselves with false images. The biblical term that is relevant here is idolatry, idol worship: the practice of making God into something more manageable. It is very easy to fall into idolatry because we all want control of the circumstances of our lives and to make God fit into the place we have assigned.
