good morning, world! :D

ahh. what fine weather. i'm standing up my date for the day (aka the NUS library) because the draw of lying on my belly and doing research on a comfy bed is just too powerful. :D it's going to be a peaceful Feb the 14th.. and i'm cooking dinner for 7!!! yay. :D

had an awesome night out with my favourite MM comm yesterday! :D hahaha. nico drove us to vivo after we kept the equipment and we had so much noisy fun on the way there hahahaha! accelerate, accelerate! HAHA. the preview of our roadtrip-to-be. we also played with dolphins and java's chicken over dinner and then pranced around the shopping mall to pass the remaining time before proceeding to catch a movie together. although we were in the second row from the front, i really enjoyed it.. the company, the film. ahh. the bittersweetness.

"You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go."

so many fantastic quotes in the movie..

i love how they presented life, and how they illustrated that everything that you do will have an eventual effect on many other people.

this group of people means so much to me, and i wonder if we can keep this friendship going for a long time to come. :D

couldn't have spent the eve any better!

ahhhhhh.. feeling so awesome now! hahaha.

today, i made my way home from school at 11.30am.. it's record beating hahaha. one of my little worries is no longer a worry :D hahaha. after that, i took a nap and then went on to clear my wardrobe of ANCIENT artefacts :D

my goodness. i found things which dated back to when i was in primary one or two! hahaha. childish diary entries which mer and i got a kick out of reading, letters from way back then, cute notebooks which i earnestly believed i would use one day (but never did), TELETUBBY STICKERS ARGHHH. i still got attracted to some of the shiny stickers in my album though :DD but that's as far as it will go!!! i still can't believe how much junk i managed to store in such a small space!

it felt really good not thinking twice when i threw things into the 'junk' pile without taking a second glance or considering whether i'd have any use for them in future.. i've been overly sentimental all my life, apparently! and now, i'm going to give away things that i never could bear to because of the giver of the gift. ah. i'm finally able to fathom what it means when it is said that it is the Giver and not the Gift that is important. also, this shed light on how buying things for others isn't exactly the most fantastic way of showing love. it makes the other cling on to the material possession as a representation of holding on to the love.

as a bonus apart from giving myself lots more drawer space, i also found the address of my primary school penpal.. whom i THINK is a social work major in NUS too :D :D and i shall write to her! hahaha

it's good to look back and know that things have progressed from then :D

i don't have the energy to do much right now but i feel like filling this place up with ramblings.

last friday, i learnt in SW3217 that at any given point (year), 1 in 10 people suffer from mental illness, and over the course of a lifetime, 1 in 4 people go through mental illness episodes. why, then, is there such social stigma? i myself cannot honestly say that i am totally non-judgemental and unbiased about this, although the facts are laid out right in front of me.

also, schizophrenics and other psychotic patients don't really suffer more than the unfortunate sufferers of anxiety, although the affliction is undoubtedly more serious. that's because subjective pain is equal. all of them go through the same misery. i never knew that.

nature is beautiful and really amazingly organised.
our very bodies are miracles in themselves.. the chemical balances are astounding. and why does our heart even beat?
the green of the leaves and grass match so well with all the different coloured flowers.. just undisputably aesthetically pleasant.
clouds, mountains, trees, brocolli.. haha. all fractal in nature.

we are made similar in many ways but different in others nonetheless, so we can appreciate the similarity and learn to accept the differences.
