funny how emotions can really distort ur view abt what's really going on huh?

imagine... u're climbing up a rather steep hill and run a risk of falling but u alws manage to get up safely. then one fine day u trip and injure urself.. the next time u'd think twice abt climbing it again. all of a sudden the chances of falling seems to be magnified. where does that come from? isn't the risk of falling rather constant? give and take a few factors. in fact isn't it even more unlikely that u'd fall two consecutive times?

really odd how we rely so much on our so called sixth sense, but in actual fact the real world operates in mechanisms that can be rather counterintuitive. like who would think that cheesecake flavoured yoghurt's actually better than u than plain?? esp with regards to fat content?! and, from the book that i just finished at long last (discover your inner economist by tyler cowen. visit his blog at www.marginalrevolution.com), you are not helping when u give those poor Indian beggars money.. plus when u decide to give to a charitable organisation, u are most probably incurring more cost than the sum that u decided to generously donate because the charity would circulate ur name to other related causes and these organisations would then spend more by putting u on their mailing list. (to counter this, inform the relevant cause that you are going to commit to and request for ur name to not be distributed)

ah.. how unsettling it is to realise that our subconsciousness represses our deepest insecurities and makes us think that we are better than what we really are. when we are simply hiding our negativities from ourselves.. we deceive ourselves about scenarios and paint a pretty picture, one which makes the situation the ideal one.. it's just too painful to think of it any other way. so i suppose that's why the saying that a third party would always see any situation more objectively than those who are involved directly has been around for so long..

let's lean into our own discomforts and make ourselves stronger, better people!

sigh..

feeling jaded now. had a pessimistic conversation with chris about the world.. he's much older and does business so definitely he has more experience with the real world out there and stuff. he was so cynical once i mentioned "economist" and i felt qt insulted actually. we went on to talk about what happened in his life.. about how he reached a point of great success in his life and he thought that he could really make a difference.. and for a good cause too.. but then when money and fame comes into play it is difficult to keep the right motivations in mind. and suddenly you're basking in the limelight enjoying every minute of you, you, you....

i tried to counter with some characteristic overly-optimistic and idealistic opinions and tried to balance it with some realistic acknowledgement of the limitations of such happy views but in the end i think i succumbed to the dark side. hahaha.. just feel so sad and demoralised. steel up!!!

you are not alone
for I am here with you
though you're far away
I am here to stay

you are not alone
I am here with you
though we're far apart
you're always in My heart
you are not alone
